In this project I wrote a vignette about a domestic violence survivor. I also go the chance to interview a survivor. I definitely thought of this project as a chance to really practice my writing skills. Another important purpose was to raise awareness for us, teenagers, that this is a common situation any of us could be in. I had Kristy Feather and Garrett Tang as my partners for this project. I was able to collaborate well with Kristy, not so much Garrett. Probably because I am good friends with Kristy and I don't really know Garrett. I was very proud of my work because I was able to connect with someone and the project. I wasn't able to find a common piece in this project that I can relate to, which typically leads to me being proud of my work. I think that since I found that difference, but can still see the importance of the project, I was able to feel proud. That is something I'd definitely take away from this project. I don't have to relate to the project, as long as I can find the importance, I can actually be proud. Maybe just being able to practice new writing styles. Or maybe something I can relate to is that domestic violence can happen to us and now we can be aware of that. I will make sure to remember this in the future.
Here is the link to the vignette I wrote: https://docs.google.com/a/hightechhigh.org/document/d/1hvHg6bN8Du3p1ZmbsjkXDqoWhOvtb0Q8PQOIV6BKsLI/edit
This is an image that represents the Break the Silence against domestic violence Organization. A woman who has experienced being in a domestic violence relationship and works in the organization, came in and spoke for us.
