Part of your final "internship project" will be a photo essay about your internship. Please read this page for information about what a photo essay is, and how to make yours. Other Questions
For Career Day, I visited High Tech elementary North County. This is the same place I will be interning at starting May 15 through June 9.
My mentor is a teacher filling in for another teacher that is on maternity leave. Her name is Brandy Springs and she teaches a 2nd grade class. There are other High Tech elementary's in San Diego, but I shadowed the North County one. As interns we are highly advised to intern somewhere off campus, but due to my situation I was allowed to intern on campus. I was actually really excited about the opportunity. A typical work day for Ms. Springs is coming at 7/7:15 to prep classroom. 8: 15 start. 2:45 end. 3-4 pm also prepping for the next day. The general work policies for if you are absent/late is you must fill out an absent form which includes the date and time. Usually another teacher in the same grade will have the students read. I got to meet all of the students. I unfortunately could not discuss my internship project in the day, but Ms. Springs and I did discuss her expectations of me as an intern and what I could be doing when I start May 15th. I will get to work with students throughout the day and help them with assignments. During lunch if there are kids that need help with math, I will stay in to help them. |
